Today is not as chilly as the previous mornings. The winds are light, and the surf is still up! Ho'okipa is 14-16 ft. There is a layer of high overcast clouds, with the sun still peaking through. No rain yet! Current temperature is 81 degrees. The weather radar shows the storm slowly hitting Kauai and Oahu today, then Maui tonight. The forecast for tomorrow is calling for really strong winds, and potential flooding and lightning storms. I guess today is the calm before the storm!
Pictured below is a Lilikoi, or Passionfruit flower. They are one of the most exotic flowers in Hawaii. It is also a vine that grows quite rapidly. The small round yellow bulb inside the flower will eventually grow into a Lilikoi fruit. It's a sweet/sour type of fruit that is almost like eating a grapefruit, sweet with a kick of sour. A lot of Maui's restaurants use this fruit to flavor dressings, desserts, sauces, and my favorite: Lilikoi Gelato!
