Rainbows!

Rainbows are an incredible natural occurrence! No matter how many I've seen in my life, hundreds possibly, I'm still in awe of them, and can't help to stop and admire. Each one is so unique! These rainbow pictures were taken by a friend, looking out to Paia Bay beach, on the North Shore of Maui. It is quite rare to see rainbows on the water on the North Shore. It has to be in the early morning hours, while the sun is still rising in the east, and is behind the viewer. There also needs to be some moisture in the air to refract and reflect the sun's rays.

We are very lucky on the North Shore, more often than not in the evening hours a moisture cloud will hug the ridge line of Haleakala, and as the sun sets, we get intense and long rainbows. The main picture in my blog shows this. Double rainbows are double the fun! I've even been lucky to witness a moonbow, which takes place on a very bright full moon night.

A hui hou! (till we meet again, goodbye)

Aloha Nina~
That was an amazing morning! I was enjoying my morning yoga practice...but kept leaving my mat to take more photos! The rainbows came and went for a couple of hours...each as stunning as the one before. I can't wait to return!
In the meantime...I have my photos and my memories!
Until next time...
